Overview of CSC-COMEX
Functions and Features of CSC-COMEX
The CSC - COMEX is a joint project between Department of Science and Technology - Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST – ASTI) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The software unifies all existing standalone examination processes into a single examination system relative to acceptance of applications, conduct of examination, scoring, and generation of reports. This system is implemented in all CSC regional offices to accommodate more applicants via computerized mode of testing.

User Process and Navigation
This will guide you on how to use the different functions of the Civil Service Commission Computer Examination (CSC-COMEX). The user must have an active internet connection and a browser. As you go along this guide you will encounter some notes/tips and warnings on using the system. As a convention, entries highlighted in yellow are notes while entries in red are warnings. See examples below for illustration:
Account Registration
In order to use the features and functions of the CSC-COMEX, you must first create an account and log in to the system. To create an account, go through the following steps:
In your browser’s address bar, type the URL http://csc.gov.ph/ and then press the Enter button of your keyboard. You will be directed to the home page of the CSC-COMEX.

In the home page, click on the Sign Up now! button [Sign up button](images/signupnowbtn.png " Sign Up Button") . You will be directed to the registration page’s user account section. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are highly required.

Click the Next button to proceed. You will be directed to the Personal Information section of the registration page.

For the Current Demographic Data, there are features for the Zip Code, Height, and Weight. For the Zip Code, a user may verify his/her zip code by clicking the links located on the right side.

For the height, a user may convert his/her height from feet and inch(es) to meters by clicking the link.

Type the measurement and click Convert.

Once conversion is done, click Convert & Use button . Then, the system automatically updates the data field.

The user can also convert his/her weight from pounds to kilograms by clicking the link.

Type the weight in pounds and click Convert.

The system converts the data to kilograms. When done, click Convert & Use button .

Next is to complete the remaining fields for the contact numbers. The system requires at least one (1) contact number information. When done, click the Next button to proceed . You will be directed to the Educational Information section of the registration page.

To add your Educational Records, click the Add button . Your Educational Information will be added to the list on the lower part of the page.

Click the Next button to proceed. You will be directed to the Employment Information section of the registration page.

Click the Next button to proceed. You will be directed to the Government Examination Eligibility section of the registration page.

To add your new Eligibility records, click the Add button . Your eligibility information will be added to the list on the lower portion of the page.

Click the Next button to proceed. You will be directed to the Other Information section of the registration page.

Click the Next button to proceed. You will be directed to the preview page of your registration form.

In the preview page, verify that all the data you have entered are correct. If you still need to change some data in your registration form, click the Edit Entries button to go back to the previous sections. If you have no more changes in your registration form, click the Proceed button to finalize your registration. You will be directed to the terms and conditions page.
In the terms and conditions page, read the terms and conditions of usage of COMEX and tick the check box to indicate your agreement.

On the lower portion of the terms and conditions page, tick the check box for examination schedules and newsletter to receive notifications through your email regarding updates in the examination schedules and newsletters from the system.

In the space provided in the examination schedule and newsletters page, type the characters you see on the image displayed on the page.
You may click the Back button if you want to go back to the preview page. Click the Submit button to send your registration form.
You will be directed to a page with a message informing that a confirmation email has been sent to your email account for activation of your CSC-COMEX account.

Log in to your email account and open the activation email from the CSC-COMEX. Read and follow the instructions to activate your CSC-COMEX Account. After clicking the activation link, you will be directed to the CSC-COMEX page with message informing that your account registration was successful.

You may now log in to the system to verify that your account registration was successful.

Logging-in
To log in to the system, follow these steps:
In your browser’s address bar, type the URLhttp://csc.gov.ph/" and then press the Enter button of your keyboard.You will be directed to the home page of the CSC-COMEX.

In the home page, click the Login button. You will be directed to the login page.

In the Username field, key in your COMEX account username.

Click the Login button to log in to the system. You will be directed to your COMEX account page.
Logging-out
Now to log out of the system, follow these steps:
On the upper right part, click the My Account button. Several options will be displayed.

Click the Logout link . You will be redirected to the home page of the system.
Edit Profile
Once you already have a COMEX user account, you may edit your profile by following these steps:
Assuming that you are currently logged in the system, click the My Account button . Several options will be displayed.

Click the Edit Profile link . You will be directed to the Edit Profile page.
In the Account Info section, you may edit data about your COMEX account such as username, email, and date of birth. When you are on another section of your profile, you may go to the Account Info section by clicking the Account Info link. To save changes made, click the Apply Changes button

In the Account Info page, you may also change your password by clicking on the Change Password link. Type in your current password, then your new password twice. To save your new password, click the Apply Changes button

To edit your personal information, click the Personal Info link and you will be directed to the Personal Info page. To save changes made, click the Apply Changes button

To edit your educational information, click the Educational Info link. You may add, delete or edit existing data. To save changes made, click the Apply Changes button

To edit your employment information, click the Employment Info link and you will be directed to the Employment Info page. To save changes made, click the Apply Changes button

To edit your eligibility information, click the Eligibility Info link. To save changes made, click the Apply Changes button

Practice test
Assuming that you are currently logged in the system, click the My Account button . Several options will be displayed.

Profile Management
Assuming that you are currently logged in the system, click the My Account button . Several options will be displayed.

Click the Delete Account link. You will be directed to a page asking for confirmation of your account deletion.

Check your email and click on the link to confirm your account deletion.

View Application Form
You can view your application for civil service examination by following these steps:
Assuming that you are logged in the system, click the My Account button . Several options will then be displayed.
Click the View Application Form link. Your application form will be displayed in a new window in PDF format.

Print Application Form
You can also print your application form by clicking the Print link in your application form page. Take note that paper size of your application form is set to A4 by default.
Examination Slot Reservation and Management
You can view your examination schedule by following these steps:
Assuming that you are logged in the system, click the My Account button . Several options will then be displayed.

Click the My Exam Schedule Link. You will be directed to the Reserved Examination Slots page where you can view your examination schedule.

Examination Schedule
View Examination Schedule by All Exams
To view Examination schedule, first log in to the system. You will be directed to the CSC-COMEX home page. On the tabs, click Exam Schedules.

You will be directed to Examination Schedule page. To view examination schedule by all exams, select “All Exams” on the drop down list. You can choose the what you want to view by selecting the type of examination and then clicking the Filter List button . The results will be shown on a table below.

View Examination Schedule by Examination Type
To view Examination schedule, first log in to the system. You will be directed to the CSC-COMEX home page. On the tabs, click Exam Schedules.

You will be directed to Examination Schedule page. To view examination schedule by all exams, select “Examination Type” on the drop down list. You can choose the what you want to view by selecting the type of examination and then clicking the Filter List button . The results will be shown on a table below

View Examination Schedule by Testing Center
To view Examination schedule, first log-in to the System. You will be directed to the CSC-COMEX Home page. On the tabs, click Exam Schedules.

You will be directed to Examination Schedule page. To view examination schedule by Testing Center, select “Testing Center” on the drop down list. You can choose the location and then clicking the Filter List button . The result will be shown in the table below.

View Examination Schedule by Examination Date
To view Examination schedule first log-in to the System. You will be directed to the CSC-COMEX Home page. On the tabs, click Exam Schedules.

You will be directed to Examination Schedules page. To view examination schedule by Testing Center, select “Examination Date” on the drop down list. You can choose the specific date for the data that you want to view by selecting the month, day and year and then clicking the Filter List button . The results will be shown in the table below.

View Examination Schedule by All Available Slots
To view Examination schedule first log-in to the System. You will be directed to the CSC-COMEX Home page. On the tabs, click Exam Schedules.

You will be directed to Examination Schedule page. To view examination schedule by all available slots, select “All Available Slots” on the drop down list then clickg the Filter List button . The results will be shown on a table below.

Announcements
From time to time, the Civil Service Commission will release some announcements regarding examinations. You may view the announcements by following these steps:
In your browser’s address bar, type the URL http://comex.csc.gov.ph/ and then press the Enter button of your keyboard. You will be directed to the home page of the CSC-COMEX. In the lower portion of the page, you will see the Announcements section.

To view the details of an announcement, click the View details button . You will then be directed to the page of the announcement which you selected.

Username Recovery
If you have an existing account and you forgot your password, you can recover your password by following this guideline:
In your browser’s address bar, type the URL http://comex.csc.gov.ph/ and then press the Enter button of your keyboard. You will be directed to the home page of the CSC-COMEX.

In the home page, click the Login button . You will be directed to the login page. Click on the Forgot Username? link.

In the Forgot Username page, fill up the fields specially those which are marked with asterisk.

Check your email, and copy the Username Recovery Token.

Frequently Asked Questions
How come I could not edit data in my profile?
- A registered user is only allowed to edit his/her profile if he/she does not have a reserved examination slot. In case he/she already had reservations, editing data (Profile Management) is temporarily disabled. However, a user may request editing of data only during slot confirmation. If the user still needed changes for his/her data and could no longer edit it online, he/she may do this during personal appearance.
Why can’t I register in the system?
- A user would not be able to register in the system for the following reasons:
- Did notifications
- DIBAR, eRetakers, OEVS
- Possibility of multiply or duplicate accounts.
- A user would not be able to register in the system for the following reasons:
Is there a cutoff for examination reservation?
- Yes. There will be XX slots per examination schedule. These may vary depending on the location and exam type. A registered user may choose his/her preferred exam date and location, as long as it is not yet full. Schedules of exams may change depending on the CSC Committee.
Can I change examination type/date/location?
- Yes. Upon slot reservation, you will be given __ (days) to change examination details.
How many times am I allowed to take the CSC Exam?
- Refer to the table below:

What are the requirementsfor the Personal Appearance?
- At least two (2) valid identification cards containing information such as complete name, birthday and contact numbers.
Are the data for High school and Elementary required?
- No, it is not required. Data for High school or Elementary are only needed if it is the highest edicational attainment of the user.
I have a dual degree, how will I enter the data?
- Enter the details in the required fields separately.
Can I take the same type/level of exam?
- No, if the user already passed a certain exam. He/she is only allowed to take a different level of exam.
Why was my account deleted/disabled?
- A CSC Administrator may delete an account if it is inactive for XX (days). No email notice will be sent to the user, as stated in the Terms and Conditions Section.
How do I subscribe to the newsletter if I was not previously subscribed?
- Under development.
Why can’t I select exam schedule?
- A user is not allowed to select exam schedule if he/she is barred from CSC for the following reasons:
- DIBAR (Database of Individual Barred from Takeing the Career Service Examination)
- eRetakers, user has already reached allowable number of exams for a certain period
- OEVS (Online Eligibility Verification System)
- A user is not allowed to select exam schedule if he/she is barred from CSC for the following reasons:

Glossary
Address Bar - Located near the top part of the browser window which contains a text field where a user can enter the URL that he/she would like to visit or access.
Browser - Also called web browser is a software used for retrieving or exchanging information resources on the world wide web. Commonly used browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera.
Captcha Code - CAPTCHA stands for “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”. It uses elements computer programs can’t read in order to verify a human, not a robot, is accessing the system.
Case Sensitive - Specification that each letter of a word must by typed exactly as shown, either in upper-case (capital letters) or a lower case (small letter). CSC-COMEX’s captcha codes are case sensitive. For instance, a captcha code of
7BmAsPURtM
should be typed as is, the system won’t accept7bmaspurt
.DIBAR - Database of Individuals Barred from Taking Civil Service Examination (DIBAR) refers to a system used by the Civil Service Commission to verify if a registrant or applicant is barred from taking the civil service examinations resulting from an administrative or criminal case.
Link - A clickable item that connects a user to another page.
OEVS - Online Eligibility Verification System (OEVS) refers to a database containing the list of all registered eligibles of various civil service examinations. The data shall be used to verify whether a registrant has already acquired a civil service eligibility; thus, barred from taking the same type/level of examination.
Screen shot - Also called screen capture or print screen is an image to produce a visual representation of what is running on the computer to demonstrate a program.
Token - A security system code sent to the user’s email to verify that the user and the one accessing the COMEX website is the same person. It also prevents unauthorized access of a username or changes in password.
Text Field - Also known as the data field. This is where a user may enter data such as name, address, etcetera.
URL - URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the global address of documents and resources on the web. For COMEX, the URL is http://comex.csc.gov.ph.

Password Recovery
If you have an existing account and you forgot your password, you can recover your password by following this guideline:
